The occurrence of acoustic echo in video teleconferencing environments that employ satellite links is analysed, and alternative measures are recommended for alleviating the condition. The echo problem is analysed for point-to-point and point-to-multipoint configurations representing the different network scenarios typically encountered in video teleconferencing applications. The echo control measures recommended are directed toward providing the greatest end-user satisfaction with minimal impact on total system cost.
