A new method for water column sounding with towed measurement devices is described. The instrument-carrying apparatus is submerged at hydrological stations, while the ship moves along a closed annular trajectory with a radius less than a certain critical value. A dynamic three-dimensional model of the behavior of the towed line in the liquid flow is formulated, and the results of simulations of the sounding process are described. The data of a hydrophysical survey with the circulation method are reported.
