Describes deep space telecommunications and deep space probes, various technologies supporting ultra-long haul communication in space (circuit configuration, special technologies peculiar to space communication such as swingby, and auxiliary technologies), examples of space missions using the ultra-long haul communication satellites (Sakigake/Suisei in Japan and Voyager in USA), and future perspectives. In order to enable signal transmission to ultra-long distances, it is necessary to apply a high microwave input level to the receiver, minimize the system noise of the receiver and modulation/demodulation loss, and improve the coding gain.
