A stochastic linear programming modeling approach for the yearly automobile inventory ordering decision is presented. The data used in the study were collected from St. Louis, MO (USA) based General Motor dealerships. Two microcomputer based solution methods are proposed to implement the decision model. The application illustrates the ease of use of the two methods and their informational efficacy in the new car ordering decision.
