The authors investigate the technical, economic, and ecological aspects of using synchronous propulsion motors with superconducting excitation windings on vessels. They present a new structural scheme for the ship, in which the diesel apparatus is replaced by a gas turbine with an electric generator and an electric propulsion motor. They carry out a technical-economic analysis and compare various types of naval electric apparatus. They demonstrate the suitability of electric propulsion systems based on a cryogenic motor to cargo ships and develop suitable means for implementing them.
