Two of RARDE's current robotics projects are described, ROVA (Road Vehicle Autonomous) and MARDI (Mobile Advanced Robotics Defence Initiative). Taken together, these two programmes are intended to provide a comprehensive first look into the problems of navigating a military land vehicle both on and off roads and with control ranging from high bandwidth teleoperation to autonomy. In the MARDI programme, the remote operation of military payloads is also being investigated.
