A new concept of manufacturing microstrip patch antennas applied to two kinds of radiators is shown. The electrical part of the antenna forms part of the mechanical structure, and consequently, the total thickness of the structure decreases. This concept is based on a honeycomb sandwich with a metallic core that is milled to provide the needed room for the transmission line and the radiators.
