Examines the application of an eigenstructure assignment optimisation technique which makes full use of the robustness properties offered by a class of multivariable, multirate systems, namely multiple-input, fixed-output (MIFO) sample rate systems. Two multirate design examples, based on the control of an aircraft lateral subsystem using state feedback, illustrate the application of this method.
