The main principles and rules of functioning of a unified gas supply system (UGS) are formulated. Problems of predicting the parameters of control and backup devices necessary for functioning of a UGS according to these principles are investigated. Methods and algorithms are proposed for prediction, the relation to existing practice is briefly analyzed. The considerations mostly concern the balance level, i.e., do not consider the limitations introduced by the gas transport network.
