A software program that performs EMI (electromagnetic interference) tests to satisfy SAE J551, SAE J1816, JASO D002-84, CISPR Publication 12, and other related automotive EMI emission standards is described. The algorithm rejects narrowband signals and transients when measuring ignition noise and rejects broadband noise when measuring narrowband EMI emissions from automobiles. The measurements can be made by continuous scanning, frequency bins (bands), or spot frequencies using either peak or quasi-peak detection, and the data can be analyzed using the 80-80 statistical method of CISPR 12.
