The author gives an overview of past and present developments to use liquid hydrogen as a transportation fuel. He focusses on liquid hydrogen-powered vehicles and reports on the equipment and performance of a BMW experimental passenger car. A refuelling station and general safety aspects are discussed. Current and future projects to operate fleets of city buses and studies to convert airplanes to liquid hydrogen fuel are presented
