The author describes the experimental work carried out during the early stages of a project aimed at producing a system level bench test for automotive manufacturers and their suppliers. Susceptibility data on two vehicle systems obtained from bulk current injection tests is combined with transfer functions from open field trials and compared with results from radiated susceptibility chamber tests. Reasonable correlation is found between the susceptibilities predicted using BCI (bulk current injection) and those measured during radiated susceptibility chamber tests.
