Increasingly, high-performance automatisms controlled by computers in heavy vehicles lead to a restriction of electromechanical techniques. The increase in motorization and overfed diesel engines is changing clutch characteristics and requires the use of brakes. An analytical method for dimensioning a clutch-brake assembly is described taking into account saturation and thermal constraints. The feasibility of such a development can be a first step towards a total electric solution for vehicle automatisms.
