A wide range of commercial and military applications is emerging from the international development of a small rotation rate sensor-a gyroscope with no moving parts. The high performance rate gyro is insensitive to shock, vibration, acceleration and rate extremes and is expected to replace ring laser and mechanical gyros in wide-scale operations.
