Many of the keypoints of an automobile are occupied by mechanical systems such as the engine, transmission, drive system and the brake system. Electronic control is now practical. The author discusses new trends in sensor technology, especially an automotive sensor and future car electronics. The future development of car electronics necessitates an optimum system to provide integrated control to a car in the pursuit of safety, energy conservation, resources conservation and amenities. The forthcoming desired sensors are illustrated.
