A roadmap has been developed to provide effective command, control, communications and intelligence systems to support tactical ballistic missile defenses. This plan, developed by a special task force element, identifies specific technologies required and operational improvements needed. The special task force element of the newly formed Joint Tactical Missile Defense (JTMD) management office in Huntsville, Alabama, has established activities necessary to implement support of tactical missile defenses. The element is known as the command, control, communications and intelligence (C3I) cell. This C3I cell completed a final report in August 1989 that details the actions required to integrate conceptual missile defense elements in joint and combined combat operations.
