The DRIVE project, MONICA, is being undertaken by a consortium of 10 partners from the UK, France, Germany and Italy with the Transport and Road Research Laboratory, UK, as prime contractors. The author describes the project whose aim is to investigate and develop techniques and systems for the automatic detection of incidents and congestion and for traffic monitoring.
