Training aircraft pilots is an expensive process as it not only involves valuable aircraft, but requires qualified and experienced personnel. Consequently, any system that can effectively perform this task, and also remove the dependency upon real planes must be considered very carefully, hence the success of the modern flight simulator. The author looks at real-time image generator technology and, in particular, the aspect of realism.
