The role that will be played by electronics in the automobiles of the 1990s is examined. Automatic traction control, active suspensions, and tire pressure control systems are among the features that will be available. Electronic throttle controls and fuzzy logic controls will be used for automatic transmissions and antilock braking systems. Car buyers' resistance to complex electronic readouts has sparked a trend back to analog dashboard instruments. However, although the readout is analog, the rest of the instrumentation is electronic.
