The electromagnetic acceleration of macroparticles to hypervelocities in an axisymmetric geometry was reconsidered in order to use high-energy-density capacitors (HEDC) as an energy source. This novel version of an accelerator has self-crowbarring electrodes arranged periodically in the electrode array; these electrodes can avoid a voltage reversal of HEDC since the allowable voltage reversal for HEDC is significantly low. A practical design of the mass driver is shown.
