Discusses a method of testing safety critical aviation software. The tested subject is an autonomous element of distributed mu -processor on-board system, communicating with other elements through MIL-STD-1553B bus. The proposed method requires an in-circuit emulator which provides subjectively non-invasive control of the tested system, embedded in simulated but realistic environment. The paper describes also a laboratory dedicated to testing such systems with application of the proposed method
