The authors discuss some current R&D efforts that are expected to have a major impact on quality assurance. The efforts described occur in three general areas: support technology, readiness technology, and software logistics concepts. Each R&D effort is associated with many of the basic attributes of software quality. The authors make an argument for greater software logistics considerations during the laboratory conceptual-development phase of avionics.
