The authors provide tools for the investigation of the telephone-traffic capacity of cellular mobile systems with fixed, dynamic, and hybrid channel assignment schemes. The basic objectives considered in developing the tools are simplicity and ease of use, so that they can be of help to a wide audience of mobile radio engineers. For this purpose, a simple model of a cellular system is defined, and mathematical analysis for the telephone-traffic capacity of the model are derived using Erlang-B theory and Bakry and Ackroyd analysis (1981, 1982). Computer programs using the simplified formulae have been easily developed.
