In the late 1970s, the US Air Force and NASA required all new aircraft platforms to comply with Mil-Std-1750A, the specifications for a 16 bit instruction set architecture used in multiple embedded process controllers. Sabtech Industries developed a drop-in coprocessor board for developing real-time embedded systems to meet Mil-Std-1750A. It can be used on any IBM compatible personal computer, essentially converting it into a powerful and more versatile development station. The system is called Orbiter.
