A description is given of the rapid prototyping facility (RPF) at the Dryden Flight Research Facility of the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration. The facility, also known as the remotely augmented vehicle (RAV) facility, has been used to test control-law concepts on the F-8 DFBW (digital fly-by-wire) aircraft. It is intended as an adjunct to the usual avionics development process.
