One of the factors that affect the command's ability to carry out its mission is the need to ensure that sufficient communications and computer capabilities are available to optimize current transportation assets. The command, control, communications and computer systems challenges that are associated with carrying out this mission are considerable. The first step necessary to bring the various existing systems, and any new systems, into a system of systems is to define the transportation mission and the role these systems play in that mission.
