To process the wealth of remotely sensed material, image processors must become capable of processing higher resolution data at higher rates. By increasing operational performance and improving object detection capabilities, new image processing engines can meet the intelligence community's demands. Recent advances in industry standard bus architectures, high density memory technology and VLSI devices have made the design of new high performance, high resolution image processing engines feasible.
