A boost-converter system that boosts a battery voltage to a regulated voltage during eclipse in a satellite system is presented. The system equalizes discharge currents of batteries regulating bus voltage, even in the event of the battery's one-cell short failure. The characteristics of the system are analyzed and experimentally confirmed. In particular, results for discharge current equalization, bus voltage regulation loop and output impedance, and power conversion efficiency are discussed.
