A unified approach to designing and selecting data-acquisition systems involving multiple sensors, data preprocessing, and real-time presentation of data products is presented. An example of a system to monitor weather parameters, wave statistics, and spectrum characteristics in real time is presented. In particular, an analysis is given of the operating software of the data presentation and storage system which is used to collect all the sensor information and to make it available to users.
