Time was when the typical fuel economy of a fully loaded Class 8 truck was about 4 m.p.g. Today, over 9 m.p.g. is possible with aerodynamic shapes combined with high-torque, low-r.m.p. engines, low-profile tires, efficient drivetrains, and careful driving. Aerodynamic styling reduces drag, improves stability, increases fuel economy, and reduces turbulence for passing cars.
