The time-optimal slewing problem of flexible spacecraft is considered. The system is discretised by the assumed-modes method, and the problem is solved for a linearized model in reduced state space by parameter optimization. Optimality is verified by the maximal principle. The linear solution is used to obtain time-optimal solutions for the nonlinear problem.
