The Soviet Union's weapons program continues apace, building new generations of both nuclear and conventional forces. The author takes a look at their nuclear forces including: intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), cruise missiles, and submarines; then conventional capabilities including battle tanks, missiles, submarines and surface ships. Finally their strategic defence is discussed.
