A technique is described for integrating an adaptive expert system into an existing avionics test environment. The expert system works in conjunction with current automated test equipment and test personnel to expedite corrective solutions. It uses experience to develop and maintain the knowledge base. The AEDA (adaptive experienced-based diagnostic advisor) prototype for the F/A-18 avionics test environment is described.
