This paper has presented a novel design method of active suspensions based on Hinfinity preview control using the known future value of road disturbances. The analytical formulation of Hinfinity preview control laws have been derived for two common situations of vibration isolation and tracking control. Analysis of the frequency response shows that preview control improves the performance of the suspension around the resonant frequency of the car body and that preview control solves the trade-off between car body acceleration at resonant frequency and low-frequency suspension stroke. Also it was found that the active suspension with Hinfinity preview control presents better vibration isolation characteristics than the active suspension with LQG preview control even for situations when the control force is required to be bounded to practically realizable values.Research on Hinfinity preview control goes on to formulate output feedback control laws where the global controller (feedback gain, proview gain and obserrer) are Hinfinity preview.
