Crime and vehicle theft are on the increase and with the high cost of cars and insurance today, the need for sophisticated vehicle anti-theft devices are in demand. This paper focuses on the architecture, design development, breadboarding, and packaging of a combined high security Remote Keyless Entry and Immobilization (RKE/I) system for automotive applications to deter vehicle theft and enhance recovery; discussing problems and trade-off solutions necessary for the system's wireless low and ultra-high frequency mixed signal implementation in silicon. The full system's mixed signal implementation incorporates SMARTMOS having CMOS logic, bipolar/MOS analog circuitry, DMOS drivers, and MOSAIC technologies.
