The benefits of mechatronic systems in the automobile are described. Presenting specific examples, it is shown how mechatronic systems integrating electronics, mechanical components, and software can provide ideal, robust system solutions in automotive technology. To provide mechatronic system solutions, automotive electronics must fulfill specific requirements. Accordingly, it is reported on the general development of such systems as well as on tools possibly used for this purpose, concluding with requirements made of team partners in the development of mechatronics.
