A new architecture is proposed for a neuro-fuzzy controller. The controller consists of two main elements: fuzzy controller which employs uniform symmetric triangular fuzzy sets as membership functions, and backpropagation neural network which acts as a modifier of the rule base. The neuro-fuzzy-controller is applied to the truck backer-upper system, and its performance is compared with a conventional fuzzy logic controller. The controller was applied to the control problem of truck backer-upper, where a truck is backed to a loading dock starting from an arbitrary position.
