The battery technology is here today so that a viable EV commuter car could be built. The SLBA battery exceeds the energy (range) requirements for a commuter car, has more power, and is projected to have the lowest cost of all the candidate batteries. Therefore, the most-effective near-term EV battery for a commuter car is the sealed bipolar lead-acid battery.
