The interest in Electric Vehicles has been growing recently due to various environmental considerations. In order to make the Electric vehicle competetive, it is important to provide a cost effective solution in different aspects of the vehicle design. In the electrical aspects of the design a micro controller provides a cost effective and ideal 'front end' for an electric vehicle drive system fulfilling the functions of monitoring control signals from sources such as accelerator and break pedals, direction selector, motor and interlocks and providing drive signals to drive the inverter. This paper discribes a control algorithm, its realisation using a microcontroller.
