The authors' company developed various active matrix liquid crystal displays (AMLCDs) for the cockpit of several aircraft. Some of these displays have been tested for and are being designed for compliance with the military electromagnetic interference (EMI) requirements spelled out in MIL-STD-461. Detailed analysis has also been performed on the addressed cell assembly (ACA) and the flex circuitry to provide guidelines for EMI design. This paper presents the results of tests performed, steps which were taken to become EMI compliant and the results of the analysis.
