Flat panel display technologies which could replace obsolete airborne cathode ray tubes (CRTs) are still in the development stage and not available as mass produced items. Flight and laboratory assessments were conducted on three technologies: active matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD), AC gas plasma display (ACGPD), and thin film electroluminescent (TFEL).
