FNC technology provides the flexibility to optimize batteries for specific applications over a wide range of capacities and power requirements. Vented FNC cells have been designed for high pulse power capability and for capacities over 2000 Ah while optimizing energy density. In addition, FNC sealed batteries provide long-life, maintenance-free operation for military air and ground applications. An 18 Ah sealed FNC battery completed two years of maintenance-free operation on F-16's last summer while at 15 Ah battery continues to set maintenance-free flying records on the Apache Helicopter. Three general areas of discussion will include: 1. FNC Pulse Power Batteries, 2. FNC Large Capacity Batteries, 3. FNC Maintenance-Free Batteries. The operating principles, charge and discharge profiles, and advantages of FNC batteries in military applications will be discussed. Data from military applications and test programs will be presented.
