The Nickel-Metal Hydride battery system has emerged as a leading candidate for military and commercial rechargable battery applications. It offers the potential of maintenance free, sealed operation, a life of hundres to thosuands of cycles, high power density and an energy density of one and a half to two times greater than Lead-Acid and other Nickel batteries in use today. A preliminary design review and analysis of Air Force applications was undertaken to identify critical requirements and set component goals and requirements.
