A traditional electric drive with asynchronous motors supplied from a two-part conversion unit with pulsed converters and autonomous current inverters is proposed for suburban trains operating from a dc contact grid. The parameters of the basic components adopted by Russian industry are consistent with the requirements imposed on conversion-unit components.
