The TOPS scenario which was described in an accompanying paper entails the acquisition and tracking of a ground target from an air to ground missile. Targets in this type of application can be of any nature with the typical being a tank or other common military vehicle. The TOPS correlator design does provide the user with the flexibility to change filters for a specific target and application. In the planned TOPS demonstration, tracking hardware, the ground computers, and the data recorders will be rf linked to a drop platform with the drop missile being fiber linked to this drop platform. In this paper, the TOPS hardware design and functionality will be described. The advantage of optical processing will be discussed for this application.
