As new high performance materials emerge, connector manufacturers have the opportunity to use polymers to meet requirements of the military. The key military thermoplastic molding compound specification, MIL-M-24519-C, lists material ranging from glass filled polyesters and polyetherimides to liquid crystal polymers. The use of Vectra LCP under GLCP-30F and GLCP-50F is a selection that results in the highest material properties available for both military and space environments. This, coupled with the inherent attributes of a liquid crystal polymer, i.e. strength, chemical resistance, dimensional stability and ease of processing, makes Vectra LCP the material of choice to exceed the requirememts of existing military specifications.
