Two processors haven been described and analysed: The clutter channel receiver and the auxiliary eigenvector receiver. Both receivers are suboptimum approximations of the optimum (ML-) detector, i.e., the clutter cancellation performance is almost identical with the ML-receiver but the computational expense is considerably reduced. The auxiliary eigenvector receiver promises to yield optimum gain in signal/clutter+noise ratio at even lesser expense than the clutter channel receiver, especially, when the clutter background is homogeneous. Adaptive real-time clutter suppression seems to be possible. By omitting adaptivity even simpler and cheaper receiver structures can be obtained. The final choice between the two processors (and whether adaptive or not) should be taken on the basis of measured data.
