A Remote Control Firefighting Platform (RCFP) has been developed at the Naval Surface Weapons Center (NSWC) for shipboard use. There are five subsystems, the Operator Control Station, Vehicle Communications, Vehicle Controller, Nozzle Controller, and Boom Controller. Communications between the operator and the vehicle is accomplished over a tethered RS 232 link with a deadman feature, while internal communication is over full handshake parallel links. The vehicle was successfully field tested.
