The dynamic simulation had proved its worth in overhead equipment design over the last decade and a half. Many cases have occurred in which potential problems have been highlighted and avoided at the design stage, and in others the reasons for complaints in the field have been revealed. Also, general insight into the dynamic behaviour problem has been gained. With the prospect now of inexpensive, readily-available running of improved and extended programs on microcomputers the technique should give even more benefit in the future.
