With the anticipated design and launch of spaceborne synthetic aperture radars (SAR's) by a number of countries in the erarly 1990's, there is a need to evaluate the utility of these SAR's prior to their construction. In support of Canada's Radarsat Project, the SARSIM software package has been developed by INTERA to generate a simulated spaceborne SAR imagery. SARSIM is intended to enable users of radar data to evaluate the impact of radar parameter changes on data utility and to allow design engineers to simiulate design trade-offs at the image level. The package differs from previous efforts in both its scope and flexibility, and in the accessibility for general users without extensive computer expertise.
